“I’m at a loss for words,” ODU coach Bobby Wilder said. They broke the previous mark of 1,423 set by Missouri State and Murray State in 2010. The schools combined for 1,549 yards – a Football Championship Subdivision record. ODU amassed a school-record 824 yards, while New Hampshire gained 725. The game was an offensive slugfest in which both defenses were porous. It was the highest-scoring game in Colonial Athletic Association history. Trailing 47-24 early in the third quarter, fifth-ranked ODU (4-0) scored on its next six possessions, going 90, 98, 81, 75, 89 and 74 yards against 18th-ranked New Hampshire (2-2). Heinicke was seven yards short of breaking the NCAA’s all-division single-game passing record of 736, set by Sam Durley of Division III Eureka (Ill.) College earlier this season. He also broke the single-game Division I passing mark of 716 yards previously held by Klingler. E-Pilot Evening Edition Home Page Close Menu
